What are sanction lists?

A sanctions list is a list of individuals, organizations and companies against which economic or legal sanctions have been imposed. Such lists are often created and managed by governments or international organizations to enforce certain measures against these listed entities. One form of sanctions concerns restrictions or bans on trade in certain goods and services.
